Title
Calcutta, India. 1902
Description
Frampton’s statue of Queen Victoria would stand at twelve feet and six inches tall and the width was slightly less than the ten foot wide, ornate pedestal raised it nine feet into the air. The statue depicts Queen Victoria in royal regalia seated on an ornate throne while holding a scepter and the sovereign's orb, in addition she is depicted at a much older age due to the statue’s creation for the Diamond Jubilee of 1897. The statue was tarred and parts of it were broken, but the damage has been repaired. The statue now shows no evidence of the vandalism it received in 1908, the only effects that show upon the statue are the effects of weather and age. It also seems to be regularly maintained due to its lack of the green patina that affects many bronze statues worldwide. The statue remains in the gardens of the Victoria Memorial Hall in Calcutta, India.
