Manitoba, Canada 1904.

Description

The statue was unveiled on April 19, 1921 by Victor Christian William Cavendish, 9th Duke of Devonshire, Canada's Governor General. The ceremony was attended by various Canadian military units and public organizations such as the Red Cross, Daughters of the Empire, and the Consular Service. After the statue was unveiled, the Duke of Devonshire unveiled two memorial tablets dedicated to the soldiers of 88th Victoria Fusiliers and 50th Gordon Highlanders who fell in the Great War.
