Title
Market Square, Port Elizabeth, South Africa 1903
Description
It is a fairly simple statue, which is not uncommon for stone statues, in this case, Sicilian Marble. This simplicity of the statue does not mean it lacks detail. The Queen is depicted standing upright and wearing a ground length gown accompanied by a ground length cape, two tassels draping down from her collar and standing out rather prominently against her plain dress. Despite merely being tassels they are one of the more detailed and eye-catching features. In her right hand, the Queen holds a scepter and in her left the royal orb.
