Title
Manchester - Piccadilly Gardens (1901)
Description
The statue itself depicts the Queen sitting on a very large throne with a laced dress. In her hands is a sceptre and an orb, the symbols of a monarch, and on the top of the throne is a bronze depiction of St. George fighting the dragon. The dress itself depicts the Order of Garter and above the Queen's head is a depiction of the royal coat of arms. Behind the statue of the Queen is a bronze sculpture of a woman that depicts Motherhood. The Queen's face is quite dignified, but there is a hint of sorrow that one can see displayed. Despite her age, the Queen is depicted with strong statue in her sitting with pride and dignity as she overlooks the scene sbefore her. The bronze of the Queen's statue contrasts nicely with the stone throne upon which she sits, which helps to make the bronzework pop and draws the eyes of an onlooker to the Queen herself.
